By using BillShield AI ("the Service"), operated at billshieldai.com, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Service Description

BillShield AI is an AI-powered medical bill audit tool that: (a) audits medical bills to identify potential billing errors and compares charges against Medicare reimbursement rates; (b) provides medical procedure pricing data based on publicly available Medicare data; and (c) generates dispute letters, appeal letters, and negotiation templates. The Service is designed to help consumers understand and challenge their medical bills.

2. Not Medical, Financial, or Legal Advice

Important: BillShield AI does not provide medical advice, financial advice, legal advice, or professional billing advocacy services. We are not a medical billing advocate, healthcare provider, or attorney. Our audit is based on publicly available data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and other public sources.

We do not guarantee the accuracy of any audit, price comparison, or savings estimate
Medicare rates are benchmarks, not definitive fair prices for all situations
Generated dispute letters are templates — review and customize them before sending
We are not responsible for the outcome of any dispute you file
For complex billing disputes, consider consulting a professional billing advocate or attorney

3. Accounts

You must create an account to use most features. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must provide accurate information and are responsible for all activity under your account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to:

Only upload your own medical bills or bills you are legally authorized to review
Not use the Service for fraudulent purposes
Not attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or abuse the Service
Not upload bills belonging to others without their explicit consent
Not use generated letters to make knowingly false claims

5. Pricing and Payments

Free Scan: One free bill scan showing total errors found and estimated savings.

Full Audit ($9.99/bill): Complete CPT code breakdown, every error identified, Medicare fair pricing by ZIP code, detailed savings report. One-time charge per bill via Stripe.

Audit + Letters ($19.99/bill): Everything in Full Audit plus AI-generated dispute letters, appeal letters, hardship letters, and phone negotiation scripts. One-time charge per bill via Stripe.

Prices may change with 30 days notice to existing subscribers. All payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your payment card information.

6. Refunds

If you are unsatisfied with the Service, contact us within 14 days of your first payment for a full refund. After 14 days, refunds are at our discretion. We do not refund for bills already analyzed, as the AI processing cost has been incurred.

7. Data and Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you consent to the collection and use of information as described in the Privacy Policy.

You retain ownership of your medical bill data. By uploading a bill, you grant us a limited license to process the data for the purpose of providing the Service.

8. Accuracy Disclaimer

While we strive for accuracy, our analysis has inherent limitations:

Medicare rate benchmarks may not reflect negotiated rates between providers and specific insurers
Savings estimates are based on publicly available Medicare data — actual savings depend on your specific circumstances
AI extraction from document images may occasionally misread characters or amounts
Our audit does not constitute medical or legal advice — consult a billing advocate or attorney for complex disputes

We recommend verifying all figures in our analysis before submitting any dispute.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind
We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to the outcome of billing disputes
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim
We are not liable for any actions taken by healthcare providers, insurers, or collection agencies

10. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, analysis algorithms, and content, is owned by BillShield AI. Generated dispute letters are provided for your personal use — you may send them to billing departments but may not resell or redistribute them commercially.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, we will delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of St. Charles County, Missouri.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance. We will notify registered users of material changes via email.
